ℹ️ The synths at synth.playtronica.com are not made by Playtronica. They are a curated collection of third-party web synths. Some may stop working as browsers change. We try to keep the list up to date but cannot fix the synths themselves. If you find a broken synth, tell us.
Where to find synths
synth.playtronica.com is our curated library of web synths that work with MIDI. Open the site in Brave or Chrome, plug in your device, and choose a synth. No installation is required.
How to get sound
- Plug in your device first, then open Brave or Chrome. The browser scans for MIDI devices when the page loads. If you open the browser first, you will need to reload the page after plugging in.
- Go to synth.playtronica.com.
- Click Allow on the MIDI permission prompt. The prompt appears once. If you clicked Block by mistake, open the browser settings → Privacy and Security → Site Settings → MIDI → find
synth.playtronica.com→ set to Allow. - Open a synth and check the MIDI dropdown in the top right. Most synths have this menu. Confirm your device is selected.

Recommended synths
🎹 Dots Piano
The best starting point. Clean sound, responsive, beautiful interface. Works with both TouchMe and Playtron.
🎸 WebSID Commodore 64
Iconic chiptune sound. Playtron only. Does not work well with TouchMe.
🎵 Viktor NV-1
Powerful synth. Some users report stability issues. Try it. Skip it if it behaves unexpectedly.
Everything else
Any synth without a "Playtron only" label works with both TouchMe and Playtron. Explore — the library has many small gems.
ℹ️ About play.playtronica.com. This older synth site stopped working with current browsers in April 2023, after a browser API change. It will not be fixed. Use synth.playtronica.com instead.

🤝 Other Playtronica users have probably hit this before. The Playtronica Friends Facebook group has 4,400 members and is the fastest source of creative and technical help. Search the group's history first (use the magnifying glass at the top — try
